O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
Biblically, there is no indication of who or what they are, nor their purpose. Anything would just be speculation.
Hi Sharon, I believe you would enjoy Dr. Michael Heiser's works on this. He has a new book out titled "The Unseen Realm." Let me know if this helps...
Jerel Kratt mentions the Divine Council in his paper on "Who or What was the Devil?". See the thread on DeathIsDefeated: http://deathisdefeated.ning.com/profiles/blogs/who-or-what-was-the-.... He sources an article my Dr. Michael Heiser on the Divine Council in his paper. I've just recently purchased a copy of Dr. Heiser's book "The Unseen Realm". It seems that this is a topic that Dr. Heiser has studied for a long time. Dr. Heiser is an expert in Old Testament and ancient languages. He is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania (Ivy League school) and his doctorate is from the University of Wisconsin. The one thing that he appears not to be interested in is eschatology (per articles he has written on his web site). That surprises me because your question is very appropriate to his major interest: what did happen to the members of the Divine Council in 70 AD, especially those 70 members who were in charge of the 70 nations? We do know what happened to at least one member of the Divine Council.
