O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
This is a series of pictures of Venus taken from Earth. It came from www.spacestationinfo.com/phases-of-venus.htm
The picture of a "full Venus" was taken when Venus appeared close to the Sun (small angle separation), not when the angle separation was about 180 degrees, as we experience with the moon. The extreme crescent Venus was taken at a similar small angle of separation between Venus and the Sun.
The quarter Venus pictures were taken when Venus had nearly it's largest observed angle of separation between Venus and Sun.
The image of Venus changes size, from largest with a narrow crescent ("New Venus") to small at "Full Venus."
