Serpents, Sea Serpents, and snakes

Genesis 1:21, in the KJV, says that God created "whales". Until recently, I had never given this a second thought. But then I came across this site:https://www.myjewishlearning.com/article/serpents-and-snakes/It's very interesting that the word that KJV translates as whale is 'taninim' (plural of tanin), which is differently translated in the account of Aaron's staff turning into a snake (tanin)Now, this is curious,…See More

What is your denomination ?
Membership in Christian Disciples of Christ church
"About Me"
I wish for all people to come to Christ, and my personal study is so that I may know God's mind better. I believe preterism has filled that need in that it ties in so many previously misunderstood scriptures better than anything I have ever studied before..
What is your Eschatological Position ?
That prophecy is correct, but our understanding of it is not always.

After this, the judgment

Posted on July 20, 2015 at 6:50pm 29 Comments

Heard Greg Laurie on the radio today, and he was answering bible questions. One question asked if this is the only day of salvation. He said yes, and if a sinner doesn't accept Christ now, in this life, then there are no future opportunities. His proof text was Hebrews 9:27

"27And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes…

Higgs Boson and the end of the world

This discussion will be a little technical, and I am going to assume some prior knowledge on the part of the readers...

On July 4, 2012, the Higgs Boson was verified to be a real thing. This was historic, and paved the way for theoretical physicists to ponder th question of "WHY"? That is, WHY is the mass of the Higgs 126 GeV? Why not 125 GeV, or some other number?

It turns out that this "particle" (if that's what it really is) is necessary for our continued existence. Although…

Emmanuel and The Problem of Evil

Posted on January 22, 2013 at 11:18am 2 Comments

Emmanuel - God With Us.

When we consider the problem of why there is evil in the world, alongside that question we need to ask also why there is good!

If God only created one choice, that of choosing good, then there would be no choice at all. As Augustine put it:

"Such is the generosity of God's goodness that He has not refrained from creating even that creature which He foreknew would not only sin, but remain in the will to sin. As a runaway horse is better than a…

Some Resurrection Questions

Even though I consider myself a full preterist, I have some basic questions about the resurrection. Perhaps some here can offer me some ideas and their own understandings about this topic. I would appreciate it.

Here are my basic questions:

1. If the resurrection is supposed to be understood as a corporate thing, then how can some enter a "better resurrection"? See Heb.…

Did Adam Have A Navel?

Posted on November 1, 2012 at 6:22pm 2 Comments

Given that most evangelicals say no, he did not, what do you think?

The idea here is that Adam could have been taken "out of" other people groups for a special purpose, put in the garden, and therefore would have a navel or...

...the traditional view is that he did not, because taken literally, Adam was created as a unique creature, different physically, and responsible (with Eve of course) for all people who…

Thanks Doug,

Ed,

I commented on the other thread before I saw this, your personal note. But thank you for talking to me. There is ALWAYS more than one side to things.

But I am not sure what your position really is. In between all the static on the Examiner site the message somehow got lost. Rest assured that in ANY case I do not/cannot pass judgment on ANY one. That is the Lord's business.

In the case of Moral Orel, what exactly do you advocate? Keith says you advocate accepting this as nothing more than "Just another" part of the world's way of seeing things. I think he also accuses you of ACCEPTING what they are saying as having validity. Is that what you think? Just help me understand.

BTW, I hope Tami doesn't censor the other thread. I see no good coming out of censorship. Maybe Keith's methods are not the best, but censoring him so that we here do not see them is counterproductive. It might be OK to lock from further comments, but I thnk deciding in advance what people ought to see is bordering on polemicism.

Sorry, Doug, but the content of that thread, and the content to which it was linked, is not appropriate language or behavior for our standards here. It was simply intolerable. You can call that censorship and are of course free to disagree. But we've removed hyperpreterists from this group because of what they did to undermine our goals and purposes, and we will also remove specific content that does the same. I would suggest you start a new thread in which you and Ed and whoever else would like to comment may discuss and clarify your respective views. It's an important discussion to have as Keith clearly (and it seems to me deliberately) misrepresented Ed to you (the dishonesty in Keith's comments posted here was one big reason the blog has been removed) and Ed should be given the opportunity to clarify his perspective.
