O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
This thread is built on a previous thread called, "God was never married to Israel in the OC." The case I will make in this thread builds upon a sermon preached by Tim called, "Covenant: The Divine Image", and really needs to be listened to first. You can find it…Continue
Part 6 of my Covenant Sermon Series, titled "Covenant: The Divine Image," is now available here:
I don't really have much of an explanation to offer. It's just my description of the view from 13,000 feet. Feel free to offer your feedback.

I read from Josephus that we believe in eternal souls like Plato did. Biblically this seems hard to prove. I suppose Aquinas' Summa Theologica question 75 is where the church historically turned for the answer. But it also seems like philosophical pondering rather than biblical exegesis.
I was taught that I was born dead and needed to her born again. Therefore my second birth would qualify as a resurrection. So when I met Don Preston I asked him if there is an infinite number of…Continue
In Romans 8:19-22 we find the source of often quoted out-of-context references to "the cursed creation" by young earth creationists and those who uphold the notion of a physical and material view of an Adamic curse. For those who will not let go of their physical curse view (at least for a moment of study) I must say that there is a very interesting problem which approaches. It is this: if you believe "creation in bondage" referred to in Romans 8 is all of God's creation then does that…Continue
I came across this interview with Dr. Peter Enns. The entire interview is fascinating, and I think he was spot on with the problems that mainstream evangelical (and I would include Reformed) crowds are perpetuating by…Continue

Because this passagae is the hinge of human history, the dawning of the age of the enlightenment, the greatest miracles since the creation of the world. "Early on the first day of the week (the early church callled this the 8th day,…Continue

As many of you are aware I have spent the last number of months entertaining the theory that Revelation is speaking of Jerusalem in AD30 rather than Jerusalem in AD70.
To my surprise, someone has already done all of the heavy lifting for me. It was published in 2002 by Warren Gage of Knox Seminary.
However, I don't think he realized what he was doing in writing this piece, until after the backlash. Which you can find if you do a little…Continue
Have you ever considered how Jonah demonstrates both Covenant Creation and Covenant Eschatology?
Jesus gave one preeminent sign to his wicked and adulterous generation: the sign of Jonah. Most Christians don't think much about the significance of the story (other than a great fish). Nor do they realize how the whole story of Jonah fits the New Testament narrative, for one greater than Jonah had…Continue
