Fitting that you posted that the day before Reformation Day. LOL How far have we come.... The battle cry is now "to the creeds, to the creeds!!!!"

It is especially ironic, because Wilson so readily used the preterist position to defend himself in the documentary "Collision" that he did with Chris Hitchens, right after (or before) he called Lazarus' resurrection a "resuscitation".

These guys are all over the place.

Since preterism is a "shiny new hammer" I wonder what Wilson calls his own new toy, Federal Vision? Such a double standard.

Happy Reformation Day Micah!

Federal Vision = (reformers) tar baby.

John,

Honestly I have not come down on the Federal Vision view either way. I know in my old OPC church it has caused a bit of debate. I know, to some, it seems more consistently Covenantal and to others it is Heresy.

I just find it ironic how Mr. Wilson sits there and tries (miserably) to defend futurism with the creeds and "orthodoxy". I would think this guy would be wiser in his use of language. One minute he admits that church history has never explored eschatalogy thoroughly and in the next minute he says that church history is clear what the boundaries are.

The funniest thing, IMO, is that if you listen to the roundtable Wilson did with Piper (and others) on Eschatology any sane person will see that there is way more difference between the 3 prevailing views of futurism than there is between Wilsons own view and FP. (Not to mention he violates the creeds in that very discussion by stating we are living in "the age to come".)

Thanks though, that video made my "Reformation Day" LOL.

Interesting...

No mention of the book published by Canon Press devoted entirely to the subject - "And it Came to Pass."

No mention of Gary DeMar's "Last Days Madness."

Odd.

Tim,

That is odd when you consider that Gary wrote the forward to one of Doug's books.

So because Preterism isn't mentioned in the Creeds of "Orthodox" Christianity it is wrong? Well, the creeds would never be wrong or misguided, would they? I think this guy is a bit disengenuous in his answers and doesn't know as much as he makes out to know.

Hey Karen

I think he knows better...but it's easier to toe the party line.

He has enough to deal with on the "federal vision" view.

He's been accused that his view of Law and Gospel imply a denial of Sola Fide.

I'm not that well read on it but have seen the accusation few places.

Might be a good topic sometime.

Ah, yes, Book of Compromises chapter one verse one: under all circumstances you must tow the party line to make the party look good. Jesus has done his stuff, now it's the party's turn.

People like that shouldn't be given oxygen

Wilson's hypocrisy is just too much. It is really sad.

Karen,

The Creed says, "I believe in baptism for remission of sins." I just can't imagine Wilson is consistent in his creedalism and believes that.
Rightly understood, water baptism is certainly a part of the biblical presentation of the gospel (Matt. 28: 18-20). But water baptism has been wrongly understood from the very beginning, and so it is important for Paul to distinguish, and sharply, between the heart of what Christ sent him to do, and the external accoutrements of what he had been sent to do. If we get any of this wrong, then the cross of Christ is made of “none effect” (v. 17).
